Sasha Dawn Lance, TJ Quarles married in ceremony July 8
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Fulmer Lance of Washington. The bridegroom is the son of Ted Quarles of Houston, Texas, and Mrs. Lynn Staniszewski of St. Marys. The church was adorned at the altar with 12 wrought iron candlesticks decorated with white bows and holding white candles. The couple placed candles in the window on each side of the church in remembrance of their grandparents. These candles were lighted by the ushers, Rusty Payne of Brooklet and Dr. Wesley McRae of Swainsboro, cousins of the bridegroom. Glenn Echols of Tignall was pianist. The bride entered to "The Bridal Chorus" and the wedding party recessional was "The Wedding March". Mark McDermet of Lexington, S.C., sang "The Lord's Prayer". Given in marriage by her father, the bride was elegant in her ivory crepe gown fashioned with crystal beaded spaghetti straps and a plunging neckline. Her veil fell from a wedding comb. She carried long-stemmed Calla lilies. For her daughter's wedding Mrs. Lance wore a kiwi dress with an Austrian crystal necklace and matching earrings. Mrs. Staniszewski, the bridegroom's mother, chose a royal blue dress with crystal beading. Both wore corsages of red roses. Mr. and Mrs. Quarles were presented to the congregation with Alicia Quarles, daughter of the bridegroom. Reception Following the ceremony a reception was held at the Court Street Livery. Italian-style hors d'oeuvres were served as guests arrived at the Livery. Ivory and red tablecloths overlaid the tables. Wrought iron candlesticks and wall dcor were used throughout the Livery in decorating. The bride and bridegroom's cakes were featured on separate tables. The bride's cake was a threetiered confection topped with strawberries, grapes and a "Q" cake topper. The bridegroom's cake was chocolate with peanut butter icing and featured a Georgia Bulldog on top. The couple danced their first dance to "At Last" by Etta James. Following a week's honeymoon in Virginia, Mr. and Mrs. Quarles are making their home in Columbia, S.C. Mrs. Quarles will be a Career Facilitator at Dent Middle School while completing her Educational Specialist degree in Counseling from the University of South Carolina. Mr. Quarles is a civilian forester with the Department of Defense at Fort Jackson, S.C. Rehearsal Dinner The rehearsal dinner for the Lance-Quarles wedding party was held in the Conference room of The Fitzpatrick Hotel on the eve of the wedding of Sasha Dawn Lance and TJ Quarles. For the occasion the bride-elect wore a black strapless dress with a white bolero sweater. Budvases of pale blue hydrangeas decorated the tables. Guests enjoyed a dinner of roasted pork with vegetable dressing, mashed potatoes, seasonal vegetables and salad. Dessert included cheesecake for the adults while the children enjoyed ice cream. Personal Mention Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Randall Jr. visited Thursday in Clinton, S.C., with Mr. and Mrs. Randy Randall, Kelley and Taylor. They enjoyed dinner at 120 Musgrove in celebration of Taylor's birthday. Joining the celebration was Patrick Casteneda.
Mrs. Robert Wallace was in Valdosta over the weekend to attend the rehearsal dinner, wedding and reception of Amy Denise Smothers and Kevin Thomas Wheelis at the Assembly of God. Theron Wallace of Conyers accompanied his mother to the wedding and reception.
Dana Ellis of St. Charles, Mo., and Marion Slaton of Atlanta enjoyed the weekend in Washington with Miss Betty Slaton. Mr. Ellis, formerly of Elbert County, arrived Thursday for a weekend of renewing friendships and reminiscing with the Slaton family and left for his home Monday.
Weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Randall Jr. were Lyn Randall and Bill Cannon of Tybee Island and Rev. and Mrs. Howard Germany of Mechanicsburg, Va.
Dr. and Mrs. Eugene Pollock and family, Mr. and Mrs. Jimbo Horn, Tripp, Jack and Mary Jo, of Watkinsville and Mr. and Mrs. Mike Reese, Will, John and Joe, of Martinez, vacationed last week at Edisto Beach, S.C.
Elizabeth Miller of Watkinsville visited Saturday and Sunday with her grandmother, Mrs. Frank Story.
Robert Graves of Los Angeles, Calif., arrived Saturday for an extended visit with his father, Arthur Graves.
Mrs. Charles Jordan of Atlanta was a weekend guest of Dr. and Mrs. Gene Pollock.
Mr. and Mrs. Craig Thomas of Maryville, Tenn., were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Pope Jr. Joining the family Saturday were Maj. and Mrs. John Gentry, Anna and Caroline, and Mr. and Mrs. Edward Pope III and Wesley. In the evening the family enjoyed a celebration and dinner honoring Mrs. Thomas's birthday and Maj. Gentry's return from a year in Iraq.
