Youth football sign-up deadline is Aug. 14 at Parks & Rec Dept.

The Washington-Wilkes Parks and Recreation Department (WWPRD) is accepting registrations for Youth Football 2006.

There will be three age divisions. The Flag Football Division will be for six and seven-year-olds and all games will be played at Ashley Park. Cost is $28.50.

The Pee Wee Division is for boys ages 8, 9, and 10; and the Junior Division is for boys ages 11-13.

Game nights will be Tuesdays and Thursdays at the parks and recreation football stadium.

The last day to sign up is Monday, August 14. Registration is being held at the W-WPRD on Lexington Avenue from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

A $47 registration fee includes use of the W-WPRD equipment. The game jersey and mouthpiece will be the players to keep. All W-WPRD equipment must be returned at the end of the season, otherwise the participant must pay for the equipment.

For a $35 fee, the W-WPRD will furnish the jersey and mouthpiece and pay officials. Players must purchase their own helmet, shoulder pads, pants, and pads from a story of their choice. All pants must be white with elastic waist and draw string preferred.

To participate, children must be six years old by September 1, 2006; and age 13 by October 31, 2006.
