Phil Roberts, Amberly Aycock honored at engagement party Mr. and Mrs. Jim Roberts were hosts at a drop-in at their home on Poplar Drive Friday evening, August 4, to celebrate the engagement of their son, Phil Roberts, to Amberly Aycock. For the occasion the bride-elect wore a strapless brown and khaki print dotted with bronze sequins and finished with a ribbon at the waist. Her corsage was of pink sweetheart roses. Guests were greeted by the hosts and couple and were invited into the dining room where the table, overlaid in white linens, held a beautiful arrangement of shades of pink sweetheart roses, Alstroemeria lilies, and miniature carnations in a cutglass bowl. Flanking this arrangement were pink tapers in silver candlesticks with etched hurricane globes. From the table guests enjoyed a delicious assortment of party foods including roast beef and ham with homemade rolls, bacon-wrapped shrimp, chili dip with Scoops, seafood dip and crackers, cheese straws, sausage balls, cheese ball with crackers, cocktail sausages, fresh vegetables with ranch dip, and spinach dip and crackers. Assorted desserts in crystal and silver appointments were served from the sideboard. Beverages were served in the breakfast room. Prior to the party the hosts presented the engaged couple their wedding gift of family heirloom silver. The couple presented the hosts a hand-painted Clemson picnic basket filled with picnic accessories.
Approximately 150 guests were invited. Out-of-town guests attending were the bride-elect's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Marion Aycock and grandmother, Mrs. Ina Spratlin, all of Lincolnton; the prospective bridegroom's brother and sister and their spouses, Mr. and Mrs. James I.
