Frances Wheelis WOM group meets for annual salad supper

Hummingbird Hill, home of Pug and Kay Nelms, was the setting for the annual covered dish salad supper and meeting of the Frances Wheelis Women on Mission of the First Baptist Church Monday, August 14. Melanie Wells and Mrs. Nelms were co-hostesses for the meeting.

The dining room was festively decorated with colorful roosters for the supper. The buffet was covered in white with a rooster motif toile overlay and decorated with a large rooster. Sunflower china and Georgia plates were used for dining amid arrangements of yellow daisies and roosters.

After the supper Nancy Madden presided and led the group in the WMU Watchword. During the business meeting WMU Director and guest, Gail Stewart, reported on several events including the retreat at Camp Pinnacle September 21.

Members brought items for Christmas in August and were re

minded the celebration would be at the Georgia Association Mission Center on August 26. Special guests for the celebration will be some of the children from the Children's Home.

Mrs. Madden reinstalled the officers for the coming year thanking them for their support in the past and for agreeing to continue another year.

Mission action plans were made.

Teresa Bishop led mission support with focus on Clinton Brock with the Gasden Association Strategy Team and with other prayer focus on Florida. She closed the meeting with prayer for the missionaries and those with special needs in the community.

Priscilla Moore was welcomed as a returning member. Others present were Teresa Bishop, Cheryl Edwards, Rosemary Hopkins, Lynne Land, Nancy Madden, Louise McClearen, Julia Palmer, Elizabeth Pope, Melanie Wells, Kay Nelms and Gail Stewart.
