December artists marketplace puts out call for artists to show

In an effort to promote Washington as an emerging art community, a call is going out for artists to exhibit here in December.

"We're issuing a call for artists to apply for participation in the December Artists Market," said Debbie Wells, president of the Court Street Livery Gallery and Events.

The artists market is planned for the same weekend - December 8 and 9 - as Washington's Christmas Tour of Homes to encourage regional recognition of Washington as an emerging art community and to help promote local artists.

"We are so pleased to be hosting the Champagne Reception for Tour ticket holders this year in our venue. Jane Bundy and her committee are working hard to make this a spectacular weekend," she said. "We want to show our visitors that we're an emerging destination for art. James and Wanda Trimm, with their Purple Palette Gallery, have established our area as a resource for art, and this should be a great addition to that."

Wells said she has already had inquiries from artists who participated in the spring show. "We're looking forward to seeing old friends and welcoming new ones," she said. "Just like our name implies, to have artists showcasing their talent and having a reception take place at the same time, this is what we hoped would take place as we established The Court Street Livery Gallery and Events."

Non-profit groups may apply for a free space to sell snacks, drinks, or other items for fund raising. One or two organizations will be selected for each market in order to help worthy groups with their fund raising.
