Charlander Daniels awarded scholarship from Black Rock

Charlander Daniels received a $500 scholarship presented by Black Rock AME Church, Tignall on Sunday, August 20. Rev. James Lawson is the pastor.

This year marks the seventh year that a deserving student has received this scholarship which is fundedd by the church members and friends.

Charlander is a member of the Black Rock AME Church and a 2006 graduate of Cedar Shoals High School in Athens. During high school she was a member of DECA, FBLA, and the Senior Advisory Board.

She has been a volunteer for four summers at Athens Regional Hospital in the Teen Volunteer Program and was recognized as being one of the top volunteers this past May.

Charlander is a freshman at Paine College in Augusta and plans to pursue a degree in nursing or business administration. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Daniels of Arnoldsville, and the granddaughter of the late Mrs. Lue Neal Andrews of Tignall and Mrs. Lillirine Daniels of Rayle.

Special appreciation is expressed to Mrs. Phyllis Wilkinson, Mrs. Gloria Walton, Dan Wilkinson, and Larry Andrews, and the Black Rock Church members for making the scholarship possible.
