Wilkes Health Care Center celebrates 37 years

Wilkes Health Care Center will be celebrating "Founders Day" and 37 years of quality care service through affiliation with the UHS-Pruitt Corporation family of providers on September 5.

"At Wilkes Health Care Center we will be acknowledging this milestone and the contributions made by Neil L. Pruitt, founder, by having a celebration for all our employees that will include a barbecued chicken luncheon with John D. Fleming from Calhoun Falls, S.C., providing entertainment," said Joyce Barden, administrator. "We will also have an address by Neil L. Pruitt Jr., chairman and chief executive officer of the Pruitt Corporation.""

UHS-Pruitt was founded in 1969 by Neil L. Pruitt in Toccoa. It has grown from a single nursing home to a multi-faceted health care organization with over 115 locations throughout the Southeastern United States. Today, they care for over 14,000 residents and patients through the hard work of over 8,000 employees.

Through the leadership and guidancne of the Pruitts, the organization has fostered a "Committed to Caring" philosophy and culture when interacting with their residents and patients, employees and communities they serve.

"We are very excited about having this event," Mrs. Barden said. "It is very important that we acknowledge our history and the important contributions Wilkes Health Care Center has made and continues to make to health care in our community."

Wilkes Health Care Center employs close to 70 persons of varying professional degrees, providing health care skilled nursing services and short term rehabilitation on a 24-hour basis.
