Girl Scouts seeks volunteers: Not just cookies and camp...'

Registration for Girl Scouts in Wilkes County will begin soon, according to Terri R. Bear, membership specialist with the Girl Scouts of Northeast Georgia.

The program is in need of volunteer leaders to work with the girls. Anyone who is interested in serving the girls of Wilkes County through Girl Scouts is asked to call Terri Bear at 706-548-7297, ext. 354.

The Girl Scout program can change the way girls see the world and their place in it. Girls learn the importance of personal responsibility, the value of goal-setting, the spirit of teamwork, and the thrill of accomplishment.

The Girl Scout program is based on the Girl Scout Promise and Law and four fundamental goals that encourage girls to: Develop to their full potential; Relate to others with increasing understanding, skill, and respect; Develop a meaningful set of values to guide their actions and to provide for sound decision-making; and Contribute to the improvement

of society.

Girl Scouts are

divided into

Daisy Girl Scouts for

ages 5-6; Brownie Girl

Scouts, ages 6-8; Junior Girl Scouts, ages 8-11; and Studio 2Bsm for girls ages 11-17.

More than 43 million alumnae can attest to the effectiveness and success of the Girl Scout Program.

From camping under the stars to learning teamwork and creativity, the girls quickly learn that the only limitations they have are the ones they place on themselves.
