Is this a Significant Tree?
A large cedar tree in the yard of the Robert Toombs House, said to be some 200 years old, is under consideration by a University of Georgia program to recognize significant trees in Georgia. Dr. Tim Smalley, associate professor of horticulture, and graduate student Sarah Thompson, viewed the tree, and others, with Toombs house curator Marcia Campbell during a visit last week. Selections will be made at a later date, and a list of all significant trees will be published.
