Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Winfrey honored on 50th anniversary

Eugene and Betty Jean Saxon Winfrey
Eugene and Betty Jean Saxon Winfrey of Rayle were honored on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary at a celebration on Sunday, August 13, at the home of their daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Alan Kemp, in Washington.

Hosts for the occasion were their children and spouses, Judy Nicholson of Thomson, Claude and Pam Davis of Lincolnton, Buster and Sandy Winfrey of Rayle, and Alan and Teresa Winfrey, and Dean and Dia Winfrey of Washington.

Mr. and Mrs. Winfrey were married on August 18, l956, by Judge W.R. Cantrell in McCormick, S.C.

Daughters, Teresa Kemp and Pam Davis, and their families presented

their parents a beautiful and delicious anniversary cake topped with roses and decorated in white, blue and green. Party foods and ice cream were also served.

Others joining in the celebration were grandchildren, Trey and Alana Kemp of Washington, Jenna and Steven Nicholson and his fiancée, Selena, of Thomson, Sherry Mosier of Rayle and Kathy Mosier of Augusta; and great-grandchildren, Thomas and April Woods of Augusta, Jonathan Boone Wilkes and Jonathan Boone Wilkes Jr. of Athens.

Mr. and Mrs. Winfrey continued their celebration with a trip to Cherokee, N.C., the weekend of August 19.
