Ashley Constance Turner to marry Ames McGill Barnett on December 9
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Mrs. Joanne Deal of Mobile, Ala. She recently graduated from Georgia Southern University in Statesboro where she earned a major in Public Relations and minor in Speech Communications. While at Georgia Southern, she was Assistant Director of Public Relations and Promotions for WVGS The Buzz Statesboro Radio Station, Publicist for Society of Communications Scholars, on the Executive Board for Public Relations Student Society of America, a member of Southern Image and a Student Government Association Senator. She is a former President of Kappa Delta Sorority where she received awards for Outstanding Leadership and Sister of the Year. Having completed her internship in Economic Development for the City of Washington, Miss Turner has recently begun her new position as Tourism Director in Washington. Mr. Barnett is the grandson of Mrs. William Thomas McWhorter and the late Mr. McWhorter of Lincolnton and the late Mr. and Mrs. Joe Barnett of Washington. He is a graduate of WashingtonWilkes Comprehensive High School and a l998 graduate of Georgia Southern University where he earned his Civil Engineering degree and served as Pledge Educator of Sigma Chi Fraternity. Mr. Barnett is Vice-President of Barnett Southern Corporation and Vice-President of Team Excavating Company, Inc.
The wedding is planned for Saturday, December 9, at 6:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Washington.
