Love without commitment
By GARY TOOLE

What is love without commitment? What is love without a faithful, cooperative spirit? I can tell you; it is nothing. It's just a word we use loosely, because it sounds good.

I've asked myself many times, "Do I truly love the church? Do I truly love God? Do I truly love the Word of God? Is my love true and am I proving my love by faithful, cooperative commitment?"

Our actions always speak louder than our words.

A perfect analogy of what I'm talking about would be this. My wife tells me she loves me, but she is not really committed to me. She comes and goes as she pleases. Here today and gone tomorrow. Then I think I could question her love for me.

Now, I know many folks love the church without any doubt, but many times they fail to truly prove their love, not just in word, but in deed and in truth. I know we are all caught up in this frenzy of living and our problems sometimes seem insurmountable.

So I pray for all of us, "Lord, help us in this old crazy hustle and bustle world to find time to be more committed to you and to the church that we should all love so dear. Help us, I pray, to be more faithful and always have a cooperative spirit toward your kingdom work. And Lord, my desire is to show forth a greater love for you and the wonderful place you've given us to worship. Now and forever! Amen and Amen!"
