RAYLE NEWS The Gospel singing group, "Forgiven," will be in concert at Sardis Baptist Church Sunday, October 1, at 7 p.m. The concert is free and Rev. John Mark Carpenter and the members of Sardis invite you to come out and hear this popular group from Indiana who have sung with the Gaithers and the Weatherfords. The Rayle Ramble will be on October 14 and plans are being made for a bigger and better Ramble than ever. Many vendors will be there with food and crafts. Tickets for barbecued chicken plates will be sold, and there will be a country store with a variety of things such as cakes, candy, cookies, canned goods, etc. There will be activities for children, singers will be providing entertainment, bingo, and many other things will be going on for your enjoyment. So come out and bring your lawn chairs and spend the day and visit with many people. Parker Echols of Savannah and Valdosta State University spent Fri day night and Saturday with Fred Corbett. Fred's other visitors have been Danny and Beverly Corbett, Shawn Turner, Ruth Flynt, and J.W. and Bonnie Boatwright. Bonnie Boatwright enjoyed visiting Mary Burt in Washington Wednesday. Bonnie also enjoyed visiting Ruth Flynt Sunday afternoon. Our hearts go out to the family of Mark Harper who passed away Friday. His parents, Robert and Edith Harper, and brother William have our deepest heartfelt sympathy. Bonnie Boatwright spent the day Thursday with her sister, Martha Jones in Bogart. They joined their other sister, Frankie Jones of Athens, for a nice lunch at Shonell's Restaurant in Athens. Visitors of Ralph and Elizabeth Smith have been Bobby and Sandra Arnold of Winterville and Charlie and Linda Arnold of Athens. Heartfelt sympathy goes out to the family of Cecil Cagle who passed away last week. He made many friends when he operated Cecil's Restaurant where Bigun's is now. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. Bonnie Boatwright visited Lamar and Kay Berry and Trey Sunday afternoon. Brooke Berry, Kaitlyn and Bryson were also there visiting. Sympathy is extended to the family of Luther Berryman of Watkinsville who passed away Saturday unexpectedly. He was a brother-in-law of Mablean Sherrer, George's sister, Eva Mae Stratton, and daughter Gail of Madison County visited them Sunday afternoon. William Hester spent the Labor Day weekend with them. James, David and Mathew Wideman also visited. Kim Frankel, Zachery and Kyle, spent Sunday with Clyde and Sandy Whittington. Monday, Clyde and Sandy picked up Fred Weidner in Lexington and went to spend the day with Kim, Zachery, and Kyle 09/07/2006-13p Doris Walker, and Linda Buff, and Louise Smith and Lucile Edmonds of Anderson, S.C., and was married to their sister Mildred. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. J.W. Boatwright and Fred Corbett went to Thomson Thursday and again on Friday and browsed around while they were there. Prayers are for Pete Poss, Gary Rogers, Roberta Roper, Kathryn Padgett, Ellie Frey, Bobby Parton, Seba Williamson, Ann Williamson, Stephanie Chapman, Judy Paul, Jonathan Grier, Helen Cowart, George Wideman, Sara Lynn Hyatt, Charles Blakey, Peggy Callaway, Dorothy Callaway, Charles Bradford, and Marshall Sherrer. Sincere sympathy to the family of Bobby McCarty who passed away last week. He was a friend to everyone who knew him. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. Billy and Doris Walker took a little trip up to Tennessee weekend of last week where they enjoyed a sale and then went gallivanting and sightseeing. Almond Standard of Tignall visited Arthur and Helen Adams Sunday afternoon. He also dropped by to see J.W. Boatwright. Clyde and Sandy Whittington enjoyed taking Lindley and Avery Hall and Zachery and Kyle Frankel to Amity lake for fun and swimming Saturday. Gene Winfrey, Buster Winfrey, and Larry Maxwell visited George and Ann Wideman during the week. Ann visited Buster and Sandy Winfrey and Ralph and Elizabeth Smith.
in Crawford while Neil was at work. Malvin and Kay Vaughn of Marietta spent the weekend with Annie Blanche Vaughn. Mary Grace Owen of Rossman, N.C., spent the Labor Day weekend with Ruby Arnold. Kaitlyn and Bryson Porter spent Sunday afternoon with Kim Berry and Aaliya while their mother, Brooke Berry, and Kay Berry went to Athens. Ruby Arnold and Mary Grace Owen visited them while they were there. Dorothy Callaway remains in MCG at this writing, but is expected to be moved to Wills Memorial Hospital in Washington and may even get to come home. She is still having days of feeling better one day and bad the next. Our prayers are with her for a good recovery. Aaliya Berry attended the football game Friday night to see the Tigers beat the Warren County Screaming Devils. Denise Armour, Justin, Ethan and Jackson, and Audra Chapman attended the Wheatley family reunion at the Metasville schoolhouse Sunday of last week. Lyn and Debra Armour hosted a barbecue with all the trimmings at their home Saturday for family and friends. Boyce and Pam Hall, Lindley and Avery, Keaton Wilson, and Rev. and Mrs. John Mark Carpenter enjoyed going to the Chicken Express in Lexington for Sunday dinner. I hope all of you had a nice and safe Labor Day holiday weekend. What could have been any better than those Washington-Wilkes Tigers and those Georgia Bulldogs winning the football games.
