I hope each of you had a good and safe Labor Day holiday weekend. Thanks to Bob and Betty Ann West for placing pretty flowers Sunday for the worship services at Phillips Mill Baptist Church. Congratulations and best wishes to Mickey and Nancy Ray Sisson of Phillips Mill Baptist Church who celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary Sunday, September 3. Labor Day was Mickey's birthday. They are among our active members who have been thoughtful sharing encouragement to all ages over the years. Phillips Mill Baptist Church had yearly deacon election Sunday using the rotation system. Three men were elected to serve. Jene Moore was re-elected, and two new ones are Dean McDonald and Danny Thornton. All three appreciate the vote of confidence, faith, and trust to serve. Remember, other members, it takes every member praying and working together to be a successful "lighthouse" for the glory of God in our community. Many members are missed and needed to be a part year-round. Can I count on your singing with us Sunday? Sincere sympathy is extended to all families who have lost loved ones recently. May you treasure sweet memories. Visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Dan McAvoy and Jerry McAvoy have been Tom Hardy, Dorothy Anne Saxon, and Curtis McAvoy. Mrs. Mabel Callaway Rice Workman celebrated her 91st birthday Sunday, September 3. Her daughters, Martha Beth Rice Flanigan and her children, Bob and Judy Cunningham, Jordan and Anna Rose of Lincolnton, Henrietta R. Lunceford and son Mike of Phillips Mill and her niece, Eunice King Prince of Thomson, all enjoyed cake and ice cream with her at Thomson Manor Nursing Home in Thomson after church. They all had a good time of fellowship together. Miss Mabel was excited and smiling. Many remember her good personality and love for people. Belated happy birthday to a sweet lady. Remember God loves each of us. May we all show His love in our daily lives because we love Him.
