Lydia Bernal Fanning Graveside services for Lydia Bernal Fanning, 69, of Forest Lane, Washington, were held Monday, September 4, 2006, at Resthaven Cemetery, Washington, with Rev. Donnie Berry officiating. She died Friday, September 1, in Wills Memorial Hospital, Washington. Mrs. Fanning was a native of Truth or Consequences, New Mexico, and had lived in Wilkes County for 35 years. She was the widow of Malcolm Chafin and had worked as a custodian in the Wilkes County School System. Survivors include three daughters, Kim Gay and Dorothy Wilson of Washington, and Wanda Barker of Daytona Beach, Fla.; two sisters, Ebea Baca of Albuquerque, N.M., and Josephine Sanchez of Las Cruces, N.M.; a brother, Robert Bernal of Truth or Consequences; six grandchildren; and eight greatgrandchildren. Pallbearers included Victor Linares, Bryan Wolfe, Charlie Reid, Greg Fanning, Randy Palmer, and Ricky LaFontaine Jr.
Hopkins Funeral Home of Washington was in charge of arrangements.
