Ben Fleming

Funeral services for Ben Fleming, 73, of Rayle were held Wednesday, August 30, 2006, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Rayle, with Rev. James McIver officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. He died August 23.

Mr. Fleming was a native of Oglethorpe County and was the son of the late John W. and Ossie Nile Fleming. He had retired from the rock quarry and was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. He enjoyed gardening and fishing.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Fleming of Rayle; a son, James

Smith of Elberton; two step-children, Everette Price of Augusta and Linda Durham of Radcliff, Ky.; five brothers, John W. Fleming, George C. Fleming, J.D. Fleming, Robert Fleming, and Curtis Fleming, all of Oglethorpe County; and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers included Robert Fleming Jr., Stanley Fleming, Michael Burden, Authur Fleming, Kevin Fleming, Wayne Fleming, George C. Fleming, and Anthony Heard.

McLendon Memorial Funeral Home of Washington was in charge of arrangements.
