Cross-Country teams host meet Aug. 30 The W-W Tiger Cross-Country teams hosted an eight-team meet last Wednesday, August 30, on the WWCHS campus. Approximately 230 runners were to participate but unfortunately, bad weather with heavy rain and lightning cut the meet short. The meet was to include three races beginning with a JV race followed by a varsity girls' race in which each team could run only its top seven runners. Then a boys' varsity race was to be held also in which each team would run only its top seven runners. The boys' race had to be cancelled due to the inclement weather. Teams attending the meet were Greenbrier and Lakeside High Schools from Columbia County, Thomson High School, Elbert County, Hart County, Morgan County, and Cedar Shoals High School. The JV race was a coed race that included approximately 95 runners. The top Tiger in the race was ninth grader Jacob Davis who finished sixth with a time of 22:15 on the 3.1mile course. Brantley Stevens was ninth at 22:42 and eighth grader Tyler Stasyshyn was 11th at 22:47. Jesse Crago was 17th at 23:34, Blake Amis was 33rd at 25:55, Josh McLeroy was 38th at 26:16, Rodrigo Rodriquez was 40th at 26:32, Dixie Lee Trim was 42nd at 26:54, Josh Cosby was 43rd at 26:54, John Pope was 49th at 28:11, Rob Lovvorn was 64th at 31:52, and Angela Broome was 73rd at 34:34. The only varsity girl runner for the Tigers was Shaquanna Spence. Ricola Patterson did not particpate due to illness.
The Tigers next meet is today, Thursday, September 7, in Jackson County. Results will be reported as they are made available.
