Representative briefs Kiwanis Club
Mickey Channell (left), Georgia State Representative for District 116, spoke to the Washington Kiwanis Club at its regular meeting on Tuesday, September 13. Rep. Channell reviewed Georgia's $18.6 billion dollar budget and it's allocations which include pay increases for educators, law enforcement personnel, and state employees. Of special interest to members was his report that the schedule of widening of State Highway 17 to Thomson. He indicated that right-of-way acquisition was scheduled to take place in 2010 with construction to begin in 2011-2012. President Kerry McAvoy, was program host for the day.
