Club meetings held after break; W-WMS Corner cookie dough sale begins soon
By W-WMS SEVENTH AND EIGHTH GRADERS

After a long Labor Day weekend, school is back in session. The 4-H Club met this week with Marcie Simpson, The 4-H County Extension agent. Simpson will meet with these students monthly teaching these students valuable skills and working on various projects.

The Beta Club met to plan activities for the year and discuss the upcoming convention in December. W-WMS Special Education teachers meet monthly with Monica Gunter, director of Student Services, for training and to discuss other special education issues. Several FFA students will be participating in an upcoming show in Gwinnett County. This show will take place September 17-19.

Our football team won its first game with a score of 22-14. They played Elbert County in Elberton. The next middle school football game will be September 14, a home game against Wrens. Our Lady Tiger Softball team had a busy week. These middle school girls lost to Oglethorpe County by a score of 8-1 on September 8. They then played a doubleheader with Thomson Middle School on September 9. They won the first game 16-2. The Lady Tigers were victorious in the second game with a score of 4-0. They will play a doubleheader against Oconee County on September 19. The first game will be at 5 p.m. Middle school Cross Country runners will not see action again until September 23.

Don't forget about the upcoming middle school cookie dough fundraiser. This fund-raiser starts on September 21. The money raised from this fund-raiser helps to pay for the many extra activities in which the middle school students are involved.
