Love your enemies
By GARY TOOLE

Those of saintly nature are not apt to fall prey to promiscuous, illicit living, but the real acid test of their true faith is the scripture that says, "Love your enemies; do good to them that despitefully use you and persecute you and say all manner of evil against you."

The word plainly says that if we don't forgive others then God will not forgive us. Now, that's where the rubber meets the road. Are you up to it? You can be with God's help and a forgiving heart. Amen!

That's why the Bible is so explicit in warning us against Satan's snares and trickery. The Bible warns us to be vigilant, alert, wide-awake, because our adversary, the devil, is like unto a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour.

As the little childhood song goes, "The devil is a sly old fox. If I could catch him, I'd put him in a box, I'd lock the box, throw away the key, for all the tricks he's played on me."

If we are not careful, the devil will trick us into hating someone, despising our brother and sister and having a bad attitude toward our fellowman. And so I say, "If we love our enemies, then we will naturally love everyone else."

Can you say amen?
