Women on Mission members meet, remember September 11

The Frances Wheelis Women on Mission of First Baptist Church met in the home of Cheryl Edwards on Monday evening, September 11.

Nancy Madden presided and reflected on the somber day all have had remembering the five-year anniversary of September 11, 2001, and the impact that day has had on all our lives. She then read Psalms 52:8 emphasizing that we must continue to trust and believe in God. She also read the new WMU Watchword from Colossians and offered a prayer.

A business meeting following and upcoming events announced included the Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Ministry with the collection to begin the week of November 12 and the dedication at First Baptist on November 19. Also announced was the Baptist Women World Day of Prayer November 6.

Members voted to change the meeting date to the first Monday of each month with a joint meeting with other groups on October 2 at First Baptist Church to greet and hear Carol Kilgore from Canada.

Mission action plans were made. Teresa Bishop led the missionary prayer calendar and read Matthew 26:13. Prayer focus was on Rhode Island and Clark Rumfelt, a Nehemiah church planter who launched The Church at Westerly on Easter of 2005. She closed the meeting with prayer for the missionaries and those with special needs in our community.

Mrs. Edwards served delicious refreshments to members attending, Teresa Bishop, Judy Bland, Lynne Lane, Louise McClearen, Nancy Madden, Elizabeth Pope and Melanie Wells.
