Homecoming will be observed at Pentecost Chapel on Stevens Grove Road Sunday, September 24, starting at 10:30 a.m. with Bishop Ronald Wilson bringing the special message. Lunch will be afterwards in the fellowship hall. A singing will be held in the afternoon in the sanctuary of the church. Brother Butch Roberts and the congregation invite anyone who is interested to come out and be a part of this worship and fellowship. Sardis Baptist Church is hosting a free special concert by the gospel singing group "Forgiven" on Indiana, Sunday evening, October 1, at 7 p.m. Some of this group have with the Gaithers, the Weatherfords, Jerry and the Singing Goffs, Hovie Lister, and the Statesman Quartet. Rev. John Mark Carpenter and members of Sardis invite you to come and enjoy the evening with them. The Rayle Ramble will be October 14 at Rayle City Hall and Fire Department. Many good things are planned for the young and old alike, so come on out and bring the whole family and your lawn chairs and spend the day and meet with your friends and have a good time. J.W. and Bonnie Boatwright took a trip to Dublin Thursday where they met their son Johnny who was at a teachers conference in Dublin, to enjoy lunch at the Cracker Barrel
Restaurant. Bonnie Boatwright went to Lexington to the home of J.W. and Kathleen Canup Tuesday afternoon and joined them and Margaret Peterman to go to Elberton to play bingo at Wendy's. Since they have been going they have met new friends. Among them are Laura Bridges, sister of Simon Bridges. Prayers are for Judy Paul, Stephanie Chapman, Roberta Roper, Kathryn Padgett, Pete Poss, Sarah Lynn Hyatt, Helen Cowart, Bobby Parton, Dorothy Callaway, Peggy Callaway, Sybil Vaughn, Marshall Sherrer, Ellie Frey, Jonathon Grier, Gary Rogers, Seba Williamson, Charles Bradford, Troy Chafin, George Wideman, and Mike Webb. Sincerest sympathy to the families of Mildred Cosby, Margie Nell Hopkins, Lydia Fanning, and Edythe Anthony. They will be greatly missed by everyone who knew them. Troy Chafin had surgery at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Augusta last Thursday and is doing pretty good at his home on the Athens Road. He has to go to the doctor again Thursday and we hope he gets a good report. Tommy Fong of Augusta spent the weekend with Troy and Shirley. Kenny Prak also visited during the weekend. Troy and Shirley Chafin and most of their family spent the weekend of Labor Day down at Clark Hill at their lake house. Matt and Mandy Young and Walker, Shirley Chafin, Haley Chafin, Sheila Arnold and Terri Diaz attended a birthday party in Tignall for Evan Harper who was four years old. Dorothy Callaway came home from MCG in Augusta for a few days, then returned to Wills Memorial Hospital to ICU. She is some better and may be put in a room this week. The doctor feels that she is going to be okay. It will just take time. She has to have more tests this week. Your thoughts and prayers are appreciated. Clifton and Janet Lewis, Ashton and Heyden, of Athens, John and Becky Orr, Walker and Isabella, of Lawrenceville; and Debra Sherrer visited Billy and Doris Walker Sunday afternoon. Doris Walker attended the wedding shower for Nancy Bryan Thornton Sunday afternoon at County Line Baptist Church. Ann Williamson spent a while with Elizabeth Smith one afternoon. Laverne Sword and Frances Ann Shiock of Elberton came for a visit with Ralph and Elizabeth Smith, but missed Ralph because he was gong out for a ride with Lee Hicks. Denise Roberts, Lucas, Lauren and Lela visited the Smiths. Bobby and Sandra Arnold and Charlie and Linda Arnold visited during the week. Elizabeth and Linda went over for a visit with Ann Williamson for a while. Angela Armour, Samantha and Cody, Scott and Sissy Smith, J.T. and Abby, and Richard and Lou Heard and Mattie enjoyed Sunday dinner with Buck and Linda Echols. Abbie Berry had a birthday and celebrated Sunday with family members gathering at the home of her parents, Donnie and Kris Berry, for ice cream and cake. Joining Abbie were her sister Jessi, Donnie and Kris, Betty Berry, Sybil Vaughn, Sandra Parker, Josh Parker, Lee and Shelley Parker, and Bradley. David and Margie Randall and James Randall enjoyed going to Athens to celebrate Margie's birthday by having supper at the Piccadilly Restaurant in Georgia Square Mall. Afterwards they gallavanted all over the mall. Hannah Wright and Alyssa Stewart gave a wedding anniversary party Sunday afternoon for their parents, Tim and Gail Stewart, whose anniversary was Monday, September 18. An anniversary cake, finger snacks and punch were served. Along with Tim and Gail, Hannah and Alyssa, those attending were Paul Wright and Ava, Lyn Shedd, Ricky Shedd, Chance Shedd, Johnny and Kathryn Shedd, Angie Paul, Chad Williams, Garrett Paul, Cody Paul and Ashtyn, Leeman and Mary Stewart, Jeffrey Roth, Darrell and Sonya Roth, Bonnie and Betsy Roth, Blake and Patty Thompson, Dickie and Susie Stewart, Robert and Judy Wright, and Daphne Albertson. Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to John Armour in the death of his grandmother, Mrs. Billy (Mary) Bryant. Penny Vaughn of Martinez spent the weekend with her mother, Mrs. Annie Blanche Vaughn. They enjoyed having Joyce Fry visit Saturday afternoon. Sandy Whittington went to Lexington Sunday and picked up her brother, Fred Weidner, and they went to Crawford to spend the day with Neil and Kim Frankel, Zachery and Kyle. Zachery spent Saturday night with Clyde and Sandy. George and Ann Wideman visited Mrs. Laura Hester and Mrs. Dot Hardy Thursday at Wilkes Health Care Center in Washington. Ann visited Buster and Sandy Winfrey. Visiting George and Ann were Tom Hardy, William Hester, James, David and Matthew. Ann Wideman and her brother, William Hester of Covington, had birthdays during the week. Ann's was Wednesday and William's was Saturday. They celebrated Saturday by having chocolate cake that George made for them. Kaitlyn Porter celebrated her third birthday Saturday. Her mother, Brooke Berry, gave her a party at the home of Lamar and Kay Berry and Trey. Family and friends came to help her celebrate.
