Mr. and Mrs. James Sherrer enjoyed having lunch with their grandson, Charlie Branham, celebrating grandparents day Monday at Washington Wilkes Elementary School. Mrs. Juanita Bradford had a nice birthday Thursday. She received lots of cards and calls and enjoyed celebrating with her family at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Terry Bradford. Joining them were Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Bradford of Thomson and Mr. and Mrs. John Sutherland and Brad. Mrs. James Sherrer, Reid Filipiak, and Mrs. Roch Filipiak attended the funeral of their uncle, Carroll Rogers, in Augusta Thursday morning. After the funeral they joined the family at their home for lunch. He was the husband of Elsie Hopkins who grew up in Lundberg. Before returning home that afternoon, Samille, Reid and Elaine visited Mrs. Ruth Hopkins at Forest Lake Health Care at Martinez. She was doing fine and as always looked so pretty. We wish Evans Davis a happy birthday on Monday, September 25, and also his brother, Lane Davis of Thomson, has a birthday on September 29. Reid Filipiak, Mrs. Roch Filipiak and her brother, Eddie Miller of Albany, attended the Miller family reunion recently in Vintondale, Pa. On their way to Pennsylvania they visited Mr. and Mrs. Bart Filipiak in Hickory, N.C. Mrs. Filipiak stayed two weeks with her aunt Cathrine in Baltimore, Md., before returning to Washington. Mrs. James Sherrer and Mrs. Philip Huff visited their sister-inlaw, Mrs. Statham Huff, at Wesley Commons Health Center in Greenwood, S.C., Friday. Her son, John Fredella, and his family joined them and they all enjoyed lunch at Ryan's restaurant. Mr. and Mrs. James Sherrer attended homecoming services at Wilkes County Baptist Church Sunday. The program began at 10:30 with the Benally family of New Mexico who are Navajo Indians and serve as missionaries on the Navajo Indian Reservation in Farmington, N.M. Rev. Benally told of their work there and his family sang several beautiful songs. Rev. Gordon Combs of Franklin was guest speaker. After a delicious covered dish meal, more singing by the Benallys and others was enjoyed by everyone.
