Dr. Robert J. Williams has served Wilkes and Lincoln County patients for 19 years

DR. ROBERT J. WILLIAMS
This article is the first in a series about Wills Memorial Hospital's primary care physicians who are the very foundation of our entire medical care system, according to Hospital CEO Marvin Goldman.

Dr. Robert J. Williams, chief of staff at Wills Memorial Hospital, is a native of Lincoln County and has been practicing medicine in Washington and Lincolnton for 19 years.

He is Board Certified with the American Board of Family Medicine. He has served as emergency room physician at Wills Memorial Hospital and has a solo practice in family medicine and obstetrics in Lincolnton.

Dr. Williams is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians; the American Medical Association; the Geriatrics Society; the Medical Association of Georgia; and the Southern Medical Associa

tion. His teaching experience includes the Medical College of Georgia, Augusta, and Mercer University, Macon, from 1989 to the present time.

He has served as chairman of the Lincoln County Board of Education and as a member of the Lincoln County Board of Health.

He was a biology major at Augusta College, 1966-72; and received his M.D. from St. Lucia Health Science University, Castries, West Indies, 1980-84. His internship in Family Practice and his residency in Family Practice were both at Hunterdon Medical Center, Flemington, N.J.

He says he enjoys practicing in his hometown among family and friends and knowing just about everyone in the area.

Dr. Williams' wife Carol is owner of Jericho Florist in Lincolnton and they have a son, Tripp; and two daughters, Edie and Emily.

He has recently been certified to perform acupuncture procedures.
