Pope speaks to WOM members about missions

Edward Pope Jr. was guest speaker at the meeting of the Mary C. Reid Women on Mission in the conference room of the First Baptist Church Tuesday morning, September 5.

Introduced by Mrs. Dennis Hopkins, Mr. Pope told of several mission experiences in which he had been a part that included two trips to help in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and another to participate in a building project in West Virginia with other volunteers in the Georgia Baptist Association. He also told of mission trips planned for the future.

Prior to his program Mrs. Hopkins presided and opened the meeting with the reading of the WMU Watchword and prayer.

After the program Mrs. Marion Newsome continued the meeting as she led in prayer for those with special needs. She also gave the prayer calendar and offered prayer for the missionaries.

Mrs. Gene Pollock closed the meeting with prayer.

Members present were Mrs. Mary Ann Bentley, Mrs. Joe Harris, Mrs. Wayne Henderson, Mrs. Dennis Hopkins, Mrs. James Johnson, Mrs. Marion Newsome, Mrs. Gene Pollock and Mrs. Frank Story.
