Iris Garden Club resumes monthly meetings after break for summer

Poplar Corner, residence of Bernie Pope, was the setting for the meeting of the Iris Garden Club Tuesday, September 12.

Karen Stubbs, president, presided and opened with the Collect. She welcomed all the members back from a summer break and thanked the hostesses, officers in the club in addition to herself, Sandy Burton and Laura Toburen, first vice-presidents; Karen Wheeler, second vicepresident; Evelyn Bennett, third vice-president; Franny Robinson, secretary; and Cathy Stackhouse, treasurer.

New members, Lisa Luken and Rena Strickland, were introduced.

The business meeting included several committee reports concerning continuing and upcoming projects of the Club.

It was announced that the next meeting will be a field trip to

Phinizy Swamp in Augusta on October 10, and each member should bring a lunch and beverage. Also announced was the Garden Club of Georgia, Inc., Azalea District Meeting planned for Wednesday, October 25, at the Milledgeville Country Club.

Present with Mrs. Pope were Ruth Adams, Debbie Bennett, Evelyn Bennett, Eleanor Blackmon, Gail Boyd, Jane Bundy, Sandy Burton, Marcia Campbell, Mary Craven, Mary Lou Dyer, Jackie Gale, Anna Gunter, Dot Harris, Catherine Hessert, Annetta Hilliard, Norma Hopkins, Nobie Keener, Lisa Luken, Nancy McAvoy, Oleta McAvoy, Marilyn Pasco, Franny Robinson, Cathy Stackhouse, Rena Strickland, Karen Stubbs, Marian Thorpe, Laura Toburen, Karen Wheeler, Patsy Winn and Sharlene Zima.
