Lady Tigers even in region after two wins in past week

The Washington-Wilkes Lady Tigers picked up a pair of shutout wins last week to even their region 8AA record to 2-2.

On Tuesday the Tigers traveled to Putnam County and defeated the War Eagles by a score of 3-0. Lindley Hall picked up the win with a complete game shutout striking out 10 batters. Leading hitters for the Tigers were Yakira Banks 2-for-4 with an rbi; Lindsey Guin 1-for-3; Ashley Burt 1-for-3; Nikki Freeman 1-for-3; Ashley West 1-for-2; and Angel Acree 1-for-3.

On Thursday the Tigers traveled to Greene County to take on those

other Tigers and came away with an impressive 13-0 win. Hall pitched her second consecutive shutout allowing just three hits while stiking out 10 batters. Leading hitters for the Tigers were Yakira Banks 2-for4; Lindsey Guin 2-for-4; Jaleesa Hampton 2-for-4, two triples and 4 rbi; and Angel Acree 2-for-4.

The Tigers hosted North Oconee on Tuesday at 5:30 but results were not know by press time for this issue. North Oconee is currently #1 in region 8AA. Today, Thursday, September 21, the Tigers travel to Oglethorpe to begin the second round of region play.
