Dangerous intersection to get 4-way stop
As trucks speed past the evidence of the most recent fatal crash at the intersection of Highways 44 and 22, the Georgia Department of Transportation says the intersection will get a new flashing red light. Beginning Thursday, October 12, at 10 a.m., an all-way-stop traffic control with a new flashing traffic signal will be activated at the intersection of State Route 22 and State Route 44. "The signal will flash red for motorists traveling in all directions," said GDOT District Communications Officer Cissy McNure. "Motorists approaching the intersection from either direction on State Route 22 or State Route 44 will be required to stop before proceeding." The intersection has been the site of numerous accidents and deaths.
