Thanks to all who had a part in our Georgia Baptist Season of Prayer and State Missions during the month of September. Approximately 70 percent of Georgia's 8.3 million people are unchurched. Your support of the State Missions Season of Prayer and offering not only blesses ministries within Georgia but strengthens Southern Baptist outreach to North America and across the world. Sunday, October 8, will be World Hunger Sunday in our Southern Baptist churches. Will you pray about your part? Churches of the Georgia Baptist Association, don't forget our senior adult rally at Tignall Baptist Church Monday, October 9, at 3 p.m. If you plan to attend and have not called in to Pat Bobo or the Georgia Missions Center please do so today so they can know how to prepare the afternoon meal following the program which should be uplifting with guest speaker Joe Mason with "Humor in a Mason Jar." Churches of the Georgia Baptist Association are encouraged to take part in a WMU mission project of the Georgia Baptist Association during the month of October by collecting paper products for Penfield Christian Home, such as paper towels, bathroom paper, etc. Of course, money is also paper that can always be used. Phillips Mill Baptist Church will be taking part. If each family just gave one pack- age each it will add up and be greatly appreciated. Speaking of Penfield, don't forget the upcoming annual meeting of the Georgia Baptist Association that will be held at Penfield Baptist Church Tuesday, October 17, at 3 p.m. It will be an afternoon and evening program at 6:30. Courtground annual school reunion will be Sunday, October 8, 1 p.m. There will be a covered dish meal. Some from the Phillips Mill and Tyrone area are looking forward to attending. Stopping by to check on Mr. and Mrs. Dan McAvoy and Jerry McAvoy during the week and weekend were Mary Hawes, Henry and Faye McAvoy, Ruth Flynt, and Dorothy Ann Saxon. Priscilla Maxwell and Joyce West were among friends who attended an 85th birthday party Sunday afternoon for Jenelle Cofer (Mrs. Marion) Newsome at the Rider House in Washington. Many have fond memories of her parents, the late Hall and Carrie Cofer of Phillips Mill. Priscilla also visited a while with Mrs. Mary Nell Denard. That was a treat, too, because I had not been able to see her since July first, a few days before my last fall. It still takes both hands to crank the car. God has been so good. Okay, friends. You say you love me and appreciate me writing the Tyrone column. What about waking up and sharing your good news. Please don't wait until you die. It takes people living in a community or growing up there taking part. Many people who live away take The News-Reporter and look forward to getting it. As I have mentioned at other times, your input is appreciated. I hope each of you is having a good day and can pass it on.
