Beggs family reunion held at Hephzibah Baptist Sept. 24

Hephzibah Baptist Church in Lincoln County was the scene of the annual Beggs family reunion on Sunday, September 24.

A group of about 70 gathered in the fellowship hall after church to continue the tradition of good food and fellowship with the extended family.

Donnie Burgess kept the tradition of preparing the barbecue chicken due to the work schedule of cook, Charlie Burgess. Enjoyed with the chicken were vegetables, casseroles, salads, desserts and drinks.

Mac Poss welcomed the group and spoke briefly of the family's connection to Hephzibah Baptist Church.

Rev. Allen Danner offered the blessing.

After lunch a short history was given by Ed Lane about the Beggs family cemetery in Hart County. William Hugh and Samuel J. Beggs, both of whom were born in Ireland, are buried there.
