Exciting week of sports contests; AR students treated to breakfast
The middle school football team will play Morgan County on October 12 at 5 p.m. This is the last game of the season. The eighth grade athletes will be honored during halftime, and the band will be playing in the stands at the game. This promises to be a great game, so come out and support the Tigers. In cross country news this week, the team ran in Morgan County against Morgan and Putnam. For the boys race, Tyler Stasyshyn finished 12th overall, and first among the other middle school runners, with a time of 21:05. John Pope was 23rd overall with a time of 23:18, Josh McLeroy was 25th with a time of 23:24, Blake Amis was 27th at 24:03, and Rob Lovvorn had a time of 28:24. In the girls race Dixie Lee Trimm finished third overall and first among the other middle school girls running with a time of 25:12. The boys and girls basketball teams will begin their tryouts on Monday, October 16. After the team is selected they will begin practice to get ready for their first game to be played in Lincoln County on November 8.
This past weekend, two middle school FFA members participated in a calf show in Perry, Georgia, at the Georgia National Fair. Tabitha Tench showed heifers and got fourth and sixth places. She also showed a steer and got fifth place. Dalton Howard showed a heifer, got second place, and then showed a steer and got third place.
