Isn't this weather simply wonderful? I love the fall. I hear the guns firing in the distance. I hope whoever got a deer. Our homebound person for this month is Mrs. Dot Shank. Call, go by and visit, or just a card would be good. Her address is 404 Holliday Rd., Washington. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Phillips went to the Atlanta airport to pick up Becky Phillips on Wednesday afternoon. Becky had been to Kansas to visit Mr. and Mrs. David Harris. She came to Washington to visit a few days. On Friday Mr. and Mrs. Phillips and Becky met Greg Phillips of North Augusta and they all enjoyed supper at the Harvest Table to celebrate Richard's birthday which is October 12. Saturday afternoon, Mr. and Mrs. Phillips carried Becky to Conyers. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Johnson, Stephanie Haynes, Chip and Skyla, and Jack Faulkner enjoyed a cookout Saturday. Visiting Mrs. Sara Huff during the week were Cassie Goldman, Bryson Taylor, Mitch Taylor, Ridge Moore, all of Washington; Linda Standard and Peyton, and Randy Goldman and Connie Johnson of Lincolnton; and Alex Dunaway. Mrs. Clarice Bates and Mrs. Clara Forest of North Augusta, S.C., Linda Standard and Peyton visited Mrs. Huff Sunday. Mrs. Regina Dunnaway and Bobbi Thornton visited Miss Grace Dunaway and Alex Dunaway. I visited patients in Wills Memorial Hospital last Monday, including Mrs. Anna Ray Yearwood, Mrs. Willie Ruth Freeman, and Mrs. Mary Rogers. We express our love and sympathy to the family of Mrs. Mary Rogers. Her three daughters, Patricia, Linda, and Janice, were there by their mother's side during the last few weeks. We also express our love and sympathy to all who have lost loved ones recently. May God comfort you at this time. I visited Mr. and Mrs. Henry N. Wallace Sunday afternoon. Our visitors this week have been Burt Newsome, Shannon N. Thomason, Taylor McAvoy, and Sara Huff. Happy birthday to Douglas Pullen, Richard Phillips, Ronny Aycock, Jane L. Ghann, Miriam Story Hawkins, Mackie Bryson Combs, Sara Huff, and Tina Van Hart. We had a wonderful day at Ebenezer Baptist Church Sunday. Our sermon was entitled "We Can Be Sure." We also enjoyed the music and Sunday School teaching. We had church conference afterwards. Our prayer concerns include Michelle Smith Walker, Denise and Jimmy Edmunds, Nan Edmunds, Ann and Wade Palmer, Lois South, Mrs. Anna Ray Yearwood, Mrs. Willie Ruth Freeman, Evelyn Cofer, Mrs. Marie Bradley, Bennie Thurmond, Mr. and Mrs. Dan McAvoy, Thomas Wheatley, Joann Wheatley and family, Mr. and Mrs. George Wheatley, Grace Dunaway, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Hardy, Mr. and Mrs. George Wideman, the family of Carol Lunceford, Mr. and Mrs. Warren Nunn, the family of Mrs. Mafelda Arnett, Mary Will Denard, our pastor and family, our search committee, the government, local and other, our elderly and shut-in. Ronnie and Shirley Scrogs of Jackson County spent the weekend here at their place. Mrs. Henry O'Pry of Athens spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Hill O'Neal and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Tuttle. Mrs. Walter Tuttle, Mrs. Henry O'Pry of Athens and their mother, Mrs. Hill O'Neal, went to Augusta the past weekend to pick up Mrs. O'Neal's sister, Mrs. Mary Boldin, so she could visit relatives and friends in Wilkes County and to be with Mr. and Mrs. O'Neal for a longer visit. William Tuttle of Daleville, Ala., is visiting the Tuttle homeplace for a while. Have a good week and don't forget the elderly and shut-ins, and also the sick.
