Mary Elizabeth Mansfield Rogers Funeral services for Mary Elizabeth Mansfield Rogers, 86, of Poplar Drive, Washington, were held Sunday, October 8, 2006, at the Washington First Baptist Church with Rev. Sid Hopkins, Rev. Albert W. Huyck Jr., and Warren Stowe officiating. Interment was in Resthaven Cemetery, Washington. She died Friday, October 6, at Wills Memorial Hospital, Washington. Mrs. Rogers was a native and lifelong resident of Wilkes County. She was the daughter of the late William Madison Mansfield and Maude Hester Mansfield. She was the widow of J.W. Rogers and had worked at Almar Manufacturing Co. and for the Georgia Department of Labor. She was a homemaker and had been active in Meals on Wheels, the Garden Club, the Parent-Teacher Association, and was an active member of the First Baptist Church. Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Carl Stowe of Cordele, Janice and Sid Hopkins of Lawrenceville; and Linda and Jim Weigel of Gainesville; a sister, Mildred McAvoy of Clayton; seven grandchildren, Carla Gober, Warren Stowe, Suzanne White, Heather Hopkins Clement, Heidi Hutchinson, Hester Strickland, and Christopher Weigel; and five great-grandchildren, Joshua, Hannah and Jared Stowe, and Cameron and Jonathon White. Active pallbearers included Brad Clement, Isaac Strickland, Christopher Weigel, Kevin Hutchinson, Kyle Gober, Warren Stowe, Walt White, and Pug Nelms. Honorary pallbearers were Gary Mansfield, Dr. Bill Branan, Jim McAvoy, and members of the Vannie Spratlin Sunday School Class.
Hopkins Funeral Home of Washington was in charge of arrangements.
