Melvyn Murphy Wallace Funeral services for Melvyn Murphy Wallace, 72, of Washington were held Sunday, October 8, at Hilliard Station Baptist Church, Washington, with Rev. G.L. Avery officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. She died Wednesday, October 4, at her residence. Mrs. Wallace was a native of Wilkes County and was the daughter of Della Hilliard Murphy Ashmore and the late Lewis Murphy. She was the widow of Rogers Wallace and was a member of Hilliard Station Baptist Church. Survivors include four children, Marilyn Wallace, Richard Wallace, Leigh Ann Wallace, and Traci Wallace, all of Washington; her mother, Della Murphy Ashmore, Washington; three sisters, Jerri Dotson, Washington, Mamie Murphy and Bessie Hannah, Akron, Ohio; three stepchildren, Roger Mae Williams, Atlanta, Henry Wallace and Carl Wallace of Washington; and three step-grandchildren. Pallbearers included Ira Adams, Patrick Brittain, Roy Brittain, Leroy Bruce, Joe Harden, and Steven West.
Davenport-McLendon Mortuary of Washington was in charge of arrangements.
