Kiwanis Club honors members, gets new officers
At its annual banquet, the Washington Kiwanis Club named Dr. Mark Waters the Kiwanian of the Year (top left photo) for his exemplary dedication to the club and its activities during 2005-2005. Special recognition was also given to members with over 50 years of service to the club including (at right, top to bottom) Steve Blackmon, 59 years; Bill Boyd, 53 years; and William Johnson, 51 years.
New officers and directors were installed by Division VI Lt. Governor Clarence Stirewalt as President Kerry McAvoy handed the gavel over to incoming
president Bill Steed (lower left). New officers and directors pictured above (l-r) are Mandy Whisnant, treasurer; Steed; Stirewalt; Bes Moore, vice president; and new directors Bill Boyd, Bill Smith, Bill Lee, and Jim Bundy. Secretary David Tatum was not present for the photo.
The theme for the banquet was the 1950s and Jessica Spradlin and Breckyn Hudson (lower right) opened the entertainment segment of the program with a dance number. Later Debbie McLeod sang a collection of songs from the period.
