Food ministry readies for holidays
Volunteers at Stephen's House Food Ministry unpack and arrange food items for their Wilkes County neighbors who will need a little extra this year. Organizer Bill Mladin says that dozens of turkeys and hams will be distributed by Thanksgiving this year. The ministry has distributed 31 tons of canned goods and 67 tons of produce to those in need since 2002, with the help of other churches, ministries, and grocery stores.Donations may be made to Stephen's House, 1365 Tignall Road, Washington, 30673.
