Speeders won't get any slack on Halloween night, police say Washington Police will be out in force Halloween night to make sure trick or treaters have a safe experience. Chief Mike Davis says that a zerotolerance policy for speeding and unsafe acts during the hours of 5:30- 9:30 p.m. Tuesday night. "The police will be out in force to ensure the safety of the public, and we'll have zero tolerance for speeding and anything that could endanger our children." Citizens are encouraged to report unsafe practices to a police officer, he said, or to dial 911 and report them. "We've been blessed not to have any incidents in recent years, and I'm determined to keep it safe again this year. Slow down, watch for kids in the streets, and parents, please, keep control over your children on the streets and sidewalks of your neighborhoods." In addition to the traditional Halloween activities, the Washington Little Theater Co. will host a Halloween festival from 7:30 to 9:30 Halloween night behind the Little Theater on North Alexander Avenue. The event is for children 12 and under, and costs $2. "Join us for ghoulish games, freaky fun, and a haunted maze," said Nora Dukes.
Sunday night, Washington's First Baptist Church will host "Trunks of Treats" on The Square from 6 to 8 p.m. Children up through fourth grade are welcome to participate, and parents are asked to "be wise" in their choice of costumes.
