Wilkes future business leaders attend state Motivational Rally

These seven members of the W-W FBLA chapter attended the organization's Fall Motivational Rally in Macon.
Seven members of the Washington Wilkes Chapter of Future Business Leaders of America attended the Georgia FBLA Fall Motivational Rally and State Fair in Macon, Georgia, recently. Those attending included Trista Adams, Shaniqua Banks, Rolesiea Booker, Alexis Cantey, Brittney Davis, Ashley Moore, and Keyonna Wynn. Tanya Morgan, FBLA adviser, also attended with the members.

The Motivational Rally was the largest FBLA conference ever in the nation with over 6,500 members and advisers participating. FBLA members and advisers participated in a motivational general session at the Macon Coliseum. The keynote speaker for the event was Josh Shipp.

Shipp talked to the group about overcoming obstacles and he shared stories about being raised as a foster child and moving from home to

home. He encouraged the group to not use where you came from as an excuse to not succeed and his main message was "Don't be average."

Members and advisers were also introduced to the 2006-2007 Georgia FBLA state officers and executive council.

After the Motivational Rally, members and advisers attended the Georgia State Fair in Macon. In addition to the Fair, students competed in several events including a T-shirt design contest, a poster contest, a state theme contest, and an open team competitive events testing.

The next Georgia FBLA event will be the Fall Leadership Conference November 17-18 in Athens, Georgia. W-W FBLA members will compete in the Battle of the Chapters event, attend leadership training sessions, go to region meetings, and play in a Monopoly tournament.
