Rev. Edwards honored for service at Beaverdam Baptist October 29

Annual Pastor Appreciation Day was observed at Beaverdam Baptist Church Sunday, October 29th, when Rev. Jim Edwards was honored for his years as pastor. Beaverdam has been blessed by his services since January 2003.

The regular song service included several specials by well-known local singer, Bill Maxwell. Mrs. Rob Moore was guest pianist in the absence of church musician William Morrison. Leemon Stewart led the congregational singing.

After Rev. Edwards concluded his powerful sermon on "Worship," Richard Byrd, chairman of deacons, spoke for the members in thanking Rev. Edwards for all he has done and for all he means to Beaverdam. Mr. Byrd presented Rev. and Mrs. Edwards with a token of appreciation from the church-a Home Cafe gift certificate.

Richard Byrd prayed the benediction and gave thanks for the bountiful

covered-dish meal brought by ladies of the church. The sanctuary and the Clifton Barrett Fellowship Hall were beautifully decorated by Elaine Mathews and Betty Byrd. A pot of chrysanthemums was placed on the Communion table, a smaller arrangement on the organ.

In the fellowship hall white clothes covered the long table. Down the center of the table were vases of pretty chrysanthemums surrounded by colorful fall leaves with small jack-o-lanterns among them. Green gourds were placed between the vases. Bigger pumpkins were used in decorating the serving tables. The work of the Hospitality Committee is appreciated. Committee members are: Rosie Maxwell, Mary Wideman, Elaine Mathews, Betty Byrd and Marie Maxwell.

Sunday school begins each Sunday at 10:15 a.m., with worship service following at 11:00. Everyone is welcome.
