Garrett awarded Optimists' prestigious Friend of Youth Award
Tommy Garrett (front center) received the 2006 Optimist Friend of Youth Award. He is the owner of Poss Ace Hardware and was also recently honored for 50 years of hardware service to the community. Members of the Optimist Club of Washington made the presentation at Poss Ace Hardware on Tuesday, October 31. Garrett was presented an engraved Optimist International Pillar Award. Garrett has consistently supported the local Optimist Club and its youth-oriented service projects since its original charter in 1989. He has provided donated items for the annual Friend of Youth Auction and prior to that event he provided for the club's annual Turkey Shoot. Club members who were present for the announcement and presentation were (l-r) Eddie Drinkard, Donna Bufford, Dan Coxwell, Garrett, Jim Bennett, and (not pictured) Debbie Barnett.
