Decorating help needed at plantation for Christmas at Callaway Fri., Dec. 8

Christmas At Callaway Plantation will be held Friday, December 8, from 4 to 8 p.m.

All the rooms in the Brick House, Log Cabin, Country Store, Dally Cabin, Gilmer House and the Weaving and Ironing House will be featuring period decorations and will be open for visitors.

The staff at Callaway Plantation and the co-chairmen of the event - Danielle and Sandra Mathis and Katherine and Bradley Barber - are asking for help from individuals, groups, or businesses to get the decoration done.

Rooms, on a first come, first served basis, may be adopted and the City of Washington will provide cedar, holly, smilax, magnolia foliage, and mistletoe from the woods around the Plantation.

Decorating will begin on December 4 and should be completed by December 7. Any person, group or business who can assist with decorating is asked to call 706-678-7060 to sign up for a room, house, or whatever they would like to do.

Donations will be appreciated and requests are for red or white candles (12" tapers), dark green silk garland, ribbon (red, gold, white, and blue), bow maker, glass or brass candleholders (pairs), poinsettias, gold spray paint (non-metallic), florist wire, picks, silver or gold glitter, and Elmer's glue.

Olivia Jackson is coordinator at Callaway Plantation and can assist anyone interested in the project. Call her at 706-678-7060.
