Norcross Catholic group visits Wilkes sites
A group of some 38 visitors from Mary, Our Queen Catholic Church in Norcross tours Callaway Plantation, part of a two-day visit hosted by Betty Slaton. "The highlight was the visit to Locust Grove Cemetary near Sharon, site of the first Catholic Church in Georgia," she said. Other highlights included a visit to Purification Church in Sharon, the Episcopal Church of the Mediator and Washington Presbyterian Church, and a reception in the home of Betty Slaton. The visitors also toured downtown Washington, the home of Mrs. Caroll Levell, and the Kettle Creek Battlefield site.
