Paul Herman Nichols Graveside services for Paul Herman Nichols, 76, of Bogart were held Tuesday November 7, 2006, in the Social Circle Cemetery with Rev. Dale Fincher officiating. He died Sunday, November 5. Mr. Nichols was a native of Oglethorpe County and was the son of the late John and Bonnie Mae Ledford Nichols. He served in the United States Navy from June 1948 until June 1950, then entered the United States Coast Guard where he served until 1960. He was a Cotton States Insurance Agent in Washington Wilkes from 1966 to 1980, and had worked for Enterprise Auto Leasing for 13 years. He was a member of the Oconee County Planning Commission for 11 years. He was a member of the Athens Moose Club Lodge #767 and a past member of Mt. Vernon F&AM Lodge #22 of Athens. He was the widower of Marilyn Miller Nichols. Survivors include two daughters, Wanda Jean Dunaway and her husband Donald of Lincolnton and Delores N. Anderson of Crawfordville; a son, Paul Edward Nichols and his wife, Marion, Washington; six grandchildren, April Crook, Amanda Pless, Barbara Eligio, John Edward Nichols, Bernard H. Anderson III, and Scott A. Anderson; and nine great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to the Nancy Long Cancer Walk of Hope, c/o Joan Geddings, P.O. Box 280, Washington 30673.
