Eternal Security
Some say, "once saved, always saved." Some say, "you can definitely b a c k s l i d e . " One elder saintly lady told me that once the Lord saves you, it's your job to stay saved. Now, from a common sense level, if you can't backslide and lose out with God no matter what you do, then 95 percent of the Bible is of no value. Living the life for Christ is unnecessary or maybe just an option. In other words, "Baby, you've got it made in the shade!" Now, let's be perfectly open, honest and forget what you think. It's okay to be wrong. Most of my life I've been wrong. When you truly get saved and you truly love the Lord, you work vigorously for God. Then you get your eyes off Him and back on the world. You grow cold with the Lord. He hasn't moved. You have. You then go right back into open sin; into the wallow hole you came out of. To put it in common sense understanding, when you get saved according to the Bible you are supposed to change. To become a new creature, you come out from practicing and loving sin. So when you go back to it, then you have chosen to change back to what you were. So you are now unsaved. In other words, you are a backslider. You see, God is merciful and just. He gives us a choice. We are special. We can choose. Animals follow primarily the guidance of nature. You don't see a hog sitting around scratching his head trying to figure out how he's going to provide for that big litter of pigs he just helped bring into the world. Folks are better than animals. Some folks act like animals, but neither God nor I can help that. It's their choice. So we can choose like the prodigal son did to go off and wind up in the hog pen eating slop, but he had to choose to come back. His dad didn't even make him come back even though he wanted him back and welcomed him home with a celebration. God leaves it up to us. No man can pluck you out of God's hand, but you can choose to leave the security of his hands and go back out into a world of sin. That way you can't justly blame someone else. Once you are truly saved you become a part of the flock. You are one of His sheep and He knows you by name, but once you leave the fold, you are a lost sheep and He will leave the 90 and nine and go seeking for you, but if you choose to continue to wander away from Him you will forever be lost.
You've got to come back and stop practicing sin. Repent and turn around. Make a complete about face. There is no eternal security in this life. Eternal security is found in the life to come only if you repent and live for Him. That's up to you. Can you say amen?
