Sunday School Union convenes with Pleasant Grove The Wilkes County Sunday School Union convened with the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Rev. James McIver serving as host pastor and Francine Towns as host superintendent. The session was opened by the president, Jamie Johnson. Tom Richardson and Raise Cunningham led the devotional service and singing was by the congregation. Rev. Robert Walton preached the sermon entitled "How do You Operate Under Pressure?" President Johnson opened the Saturday session and Eddie Finnell and Curtis Willis led the devotional service. The Bible lesson was taught by Curtis Willis and Mary Stewart was the youth teacher. The doctrinal sermon was preached by Rev. Robert Crawford entitled "Love in Action." The devotional service in the evening youth session was led by Darius Jenkins and Jamal Johnson. Thomas Booker served as youth president and Ricola Patterson was youth secretary. Jaboris Wright gave the welcome address and singing was by the Union Youth Choir. The inspirational message was given by the Grove and Dance Team from Springfield Baptist Church. Rev. G.L. Avery led the benediction. Following the opening of the Sunday session by the president, Willie Hampton and Larry Smith led the devotional service. Willie Hampton presided as Sunday School superintendent with a total of 61 members present. Ruby Avery gave the inspirational address entitled "What are You Doing to Serve God?" The missionary sermon was preached by Rev. G.L. Avery entitled "The Ultimate Mission of the Church." Singing was by Pleasant Grove. Hospitality remarks were made by Kay Finnell. The next union meeting will be held with Reeves Baptist Church December 29-31. Officers of the Union are Jamie
