SOUTHERN FRIED FOOTBALL
with CLAUDE CLEATS

2006 continues to be a season of change, not only in the South, but the entire Nation. Take last week as an example. Texas was shocked by Kansas State, Auburn was ambushed by Georgia, Florida had to block three kicks to beat South Carolina, California was upset by Arizona and Arkansas ran over (literally) Tennessee.

Things should calm down a little this week, but you never know.

FSU over Western Michigan by 17 - Western Michigan arrives in Tallahassee just in time to help the Seminoles avoid their first losing season in who knows when!

Louisville over South Florida by 18 - The Cardinals get things back together to handily defeat a pretty good South Florida team.

Wake Forest over Virginia Tech by 3 - The Hokies are surging, but 'Ole Claude has learned his lesson about picking against Wake Forest.

Georgia Tech over Duke by 14 - With a spot in the ACC Championship game guaranteed, expect the Jackets to be a little flat Saturday. They would have to be flatter than a pancake, however, to lose to Duke.

N.C. State over North Carolina by 5 - This one could actually could go either way, but State seems to have a few more talented athletes than the Tar Heels.

Tennessee over Vanderbilt by 7 - The Vols are reeling from the whipping administered last week by the Arkansas Razorbacks. Vandy upset Tennessee last year. The revenge motive should be just enough to put the Vols over the hump.

East Carolina over Rice by 3 - The Pirates are playing good football. Rice is getting better, but they'll come up a little short in this one.

LSU over Ole Miss by 28 - Remember when this was a big game?

Auburn over Alabama by 3 - Don't look for the Tigers to be upset two weeks in a row, even by their arch rivals.

Arkansas over Miss. State by 17 - The Razorbacks are #5 in the Nation and #1 in the Dixie Dozen. Mississippi State has struggled almost all year.

Miami over Virginia by 3 - The Canes came very close to beating Maryland days after one of their teammates was shot and killed. Virginia has improved, but Miami has more to play for than just pride.

Upset: Maryland over Boston College by 7 - The Terps may be on their way to the ACC Championship game. The odds makers picked Boston College by 7. I think it will be the reverse.

South Carolina over Middle Tennessee by 20 - The Gamecocks have lost some real heartbreakers this year. Coach Spurrier and his boys will use this one to tuneup for the season ending game at Clemson.
