Flu shots will be available at the Wilkes County Health Department on Gordon Street every Thursday from 8 a.m.-12 p.m. and 1-4 p.m.

The Church of the Mediator will have its annual Christmas Bazaar on Saturday, December 2.

Beaverdam Baptist Church no longer sponsors the Dial-APrayer ministry, but it is again sometimes available locally. The toll free Dial-A-Prayer number is 1-877-337-7785. Illnesses of individuals in the ministry have caused the interruption of services.

The Civil War Round Table of Washington will meet Monday, November 27, 6 p.m., in the Fitzpatrick Hotel Restaurant with dinner for $10 per person. Dr. Tim Drake, Professor at Clemson University and a direct descendant of John C. Calhoun, will speak on "The Real Causes of the Civil War." The Washington-Wilkes AARP Chapter will not meet in November and future meetings are cancelled until further notice.

The Bartram Trail Regional Library Bookmobile will be at the First United Methodist Church Pre-School, Faith Christian Center, Newtown Road, Mallorysville Road area, and Harper's Personal Care Home on the morning of November 29.

Georgia TASC will sponsor a gourmet food booth at the Livery Stable on Court Street, Washington, December 9, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Celebrated Chef Joe Barnett will be preparing his shrimp and grits and seafood gumbo. Desserts will also be available.

Due to the lack of reservations there will be no Thanksgiving Buffet at the Fitzpatrick Hotel Restaurant on Thanksgiving Day.

Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Sunday School will present its annual Christmas program Sunday, December 17, 6 p.m.

The Washington-Wilkes Band Boosters will meet November 27, 7 p.m., in the band room. All Band Booster parents are urged to attend.

The Fourth Annual Thomas Festival Off Main will be held Saturday, December 2. Applications for crafters, vendors, 5-K runners, and parade participants are available from the Chamber of Commerce, 706-597-1000 or Johnette Bell at the Brier Patch, 706-595-3087.

Booker's Chapel Baptist Church will honor its pastor, Rev. Dante Smith, with services beginning Wednesday, November 29, and continuing on Thursday and Friday, each evening at 7:00. Guest speaker will be Rev. Harold Cooper of Memphis, Tenn. The speaker for the Sunday, December 3, service will be Rev. Lance Pitts, pastor of the Marks Tabernacle and Mt. Pleasant Baptist churches of Washington and Greensboro. The service begins at 11:30 a.m. and will be followed by dinner.

Pompey's Chapel Baptist Church will celebrate the birthday of the pastor, Rev. W.R. Ferrell, on Sunday, December 24, beginning at 11:30 a.m. Special guests will be Rev. L.V. Turman and Faith Christian Center, Washington. Dinner will be served.

The Sons of the American Legion, Squadron 194, will have a turkey shoot November 25, 7-10 p.m., at the American Legion Fairgrounds in Lincolnton.

New Salem Baptist Church will have a Thanksgiving Service Wednesday, November 22, 7:30 p.m. Pastor Reynolds and the congregation extend an invitation toe everyone to attend.
