Kiwanis Christmas wreaths now available on The Square
Following in the tradition estab- lished six years ago, the Kiwanis Club of Washington is again selling decorated Christmas wreaths to benefit the youth of Washington- Wilkes.

The basic wreaths, of the finest Fraser Fir, were prepared in Cashiers, North Carolina, and brought to Washington by club members. On Monday evening, November 20, the wreaths were decorated by club members, spouses and friends. The decorations include combinations of holly berries, small pine cones, cedar boughs, cotton bolls, and fruit. The wreaths are completed with the addition of lovely bows of velvet ribbon prepared by Laura Sleighter and Carol McTier, both professional florists and decorators.

The sale price of the Christmas wreaths is $35.00 and all proceeds go to fund local youth programs. Two recent projects included the distribution of personal dictionaries at the elementary school and playground renovations at Washington's Liberty Street Park. Worthy college bound high schoolers also benefit from wreath sales when the Kiwanis Scholarship is awarded each year.

Once again the wreaths will be sold at the former Blackmons Department Store building now owned and generously donated for the sale by Rita Bell and John Horton of Houchston, Georgia, and Washington.

Only seventy five wreaths have been made so everyone is urged to get to The Square and pick out a special wreath.

Sale times will be 2-6 p.m. Wednesday and Friday, and 10 a.m. Saturday until the last wreath is sold.
