Happy Thanksgiving holidays to one and all. I hope many families will be able to be together and share some of your blessings. We have so much to be thankful for. It's a good time to get humble, pray, and forgive as we have reaped the harvest of the years. Many times people get upset over the least thing that others do, and take uncalled for measures to relatives and friends in Christ, and just let it hang in the balance, holding their heads high, causing much pain and suffering and never trying to repair the damage year after year. Is this Christ like? I don't think so. May we be reminded that there has never been but one person who was considered perfect. God sent his only begotten Son Jesus to seek and to save the world, hoping many would accept his plan of salvation and become fishers of men. I remember growing up in church singing hymns such as "Let Others See Jesus in You," "Look All Around You, Find Someone in Need," "Help Somebody Today," "Stand up for Jesus," and Praise God from Whom All Blessings Flow." I have fond memories of my daddy singing these songs and others while milking cows and the cows would seem to relax. He would get up from milking, pat the cow, and they would switch their tails as they walked off, sometimes like "Marching to Zion." Thanks to everyone of different races who have shown so much love and kindness to our family this year as we have experienced so many surprises. Number one, me falling about and having several heart attacks. The recent fall happened Friday morning, November 10. I was minding my own business about 8 a.m. at Mary Jane's house when I fell and broke my right hip. It happened so quick and hard. Morrison arrived from taking grandson Tyler to school shortly after I fell. I had planned to attend funeral services for James Howard Thaxton at Carters Grove. On Thursday I went by to see a longtime friend, Hazel King Combs, who joined me for a trip to Crawfordville to attend the funeral of longtime friend Mabel Lunceford Fouche, the last one of the children of the late Overton and Clara Cannon Lunceford. As I went to turn right to get back on Highway 44 at the county line my front right tire happened to drop in a ditch, but several miracles came our way. Just as I was looking at the front end of the car I looked up and there was a highway truck with two nice men who stopped. While they were looking for a place to hook a chain, a nice hunter from Florida pulled over, took a look, unhooked his trailer and came and pulled me out. We went on about our business. All three men were very nice. I wouldn't take a dime. The Florida man was on his way back home. I can't help but feel he may have a campsite in our area. Don't tell me there is no God. A reminder of another hymn, "God Will Take Care of You." I feel so grateful. Please keep me in your prayers. Phillips Mill Baptist Church enjoyed the annual Thanksgiving meal together Sunday night. I understand there was good food and fellowship and the tables were decorated with the holiday theme. Thanks to all who attended and had a part in any way to make it nice. Among visitors were Carolyn Bridges Burnam's sister "Dot" and her husband, Bill McCord. Sincere sympathy to Dot and Carolyn on the recent death of their brother Charles. They all grew up at Phillips Mill. Smile, God loves you.
