W-W Garden Club meets Nov. 9 at Tignall Library

The Washington-Wilkes Garden Club met Thursday, November 9, at the historic Tignall Library in Tignall.

Mabel Johnson, president, presided. She welcomed members and offered a devotional.

A short business meeting followed.

With holidays fast approaching members delighted in a program of gift ideas given by Linda Burns of Tignall, known to many as the "Basket Lady." Mrs. Burns gave members many tips as she showed gift baskets she designs. Baskets included items for babies, both boys and girls, housewarming, bon voyage, bridal couples, and basically every occasion one can imagine. A unique idea included the "I Love My Truck" basket filled with many car and truck cleaning supplies. At the close of her presentation Mrs. Burns presented the club a wall hanging with wildflowers. She also gave wall hanging door prize won by Mrs. Johnson.

Hostesses, Celeste Adams and Faye Durham, served delicious refreshments of cheesecake, mixed nuts, Chex Mix, cream cheese and pepper jelly with crackers and hot apple cider.

Present were Celeste Adams, Dr. Sophia Bamford, Fay Butler, Faye Durham, Mabel Johnson, Sally Kennedy, Edna Lamar, Mary Webster, Louise Harper, Edna Rhodes, Linda Burns, Joann Bailey, Paula Butts and granddaughter, Harper Smith.
